Your local consignment store will agree to a consignment term that you will find agreeable to both parties. If you are thinking of selling your home furnishings, you should carefully consider the pros and cons of consigning your items. The final stage of the consignment process is disposing of the items that aren't selling. A consignment store that has a solid track record and has a large inventory of quality merchandise will be a far more attractive selling opportunity than an inexperienced consignment outlet. An inexperienced consignment outlet is more likely to sell items that are damaged, poorly priced, have been abused, or simply are not in high demand.
There are some major risks associated with consigning, but because the consignor is taking a gamble by entering into this sort of arrangement, she wants the consignment to be a win-win situation for both parties.
Before consigning furniture at a consignment store, it's imperative to understand the rules and regulations about the event. Every city and state has its own rules and regulations about what is allowed and what isn't. If you want to know more about consignment rules in your area, take a look at your city or county's rules and regulations. If you are unsure, call the City or County Clerk's Office where you live, and make sure you know the rules before you consign your items.
