Enjoy slicing your foes with this Legendary sword and after progressing further into the story you will also be able to upgrade it further by completing the Challenge on it. In this case you will have to recruit an Orc into your Army that is level 15 or higher (can be done in Act 2, more below).
When Talion is killed by an Olog-hai, there is a chance that the Olog will break Talion's sword, rendering it inaccessible. However, when the Olog that broke the sword is killed, Talion can recover it, and it's level will increase by 5. Swords can be broken and reforged any number of times, but it will not be upgraded past level 90.
Each sword you find may be random, but the level of the weapon will indicate how much damage it can deal, and the rarer gear will also have additional bonus effects. These rarer weapons will also have Unlock Challenges with randomized requirements. After completing these challenges, they can be unlocked to not only grant additional bonuses, but raise the level of the weapon by several levels - increasing its base damage output, but can only be unlocked once.
Ghost of Tsushima offers tons of cosmetic items to customize Jin and make him look as deadly as possible. There are armors, masks, headbands, hats, and most important to a samurai warrior, sword kits. After all, where would a samurai be without his trusty sword by his side ready to cut down any foe who may cross his path?
Sword kits are usually found at Shrines of Honor deep within Tsushima. Through this short guide, we will show you how you can get some of the coolest sword kits and strike fear into the Mongol hordes.
This includes a new story, new challenges, and new items to collect. Among these new items are a variety of new sword kits that really stand out among the others. Sucker punch has gone above and beyond with its new designs. They aren't extremely hard to collect, but they are definitely worth going off the beaten path for. Make to sure check high and low so none of them get missed.
This is a sword kit "For a samurai who is both playful and deadly," much like a bear from which part of the sheath is likely made. The primal, earthen nature of this kit looks great with certain dark clothing if one cares for a more ghostly look. Hunter in the night. Pounce like the most savage beast. Blood in the moonlight.
Here's another that can be obtained from a merchant with adequate currency. If Jin has also met the White dye merchant atop the peak of Wanderer's pass in the Kashine prefecture, he will soon recognize the potential aesthetic appeal that can be had by combining such pure, pale dyes, and this marvelous sword kit.
Few sword kits are more dynamic and fierce than Prowling Tiger. Mongols can see Jin coming from a mile away if he wears this, as it is "the sign of a true predator," one intent to feast upon their foes openly, for none can stop them from their unending hunt. Vibrant, aggressive. An unbowing warrior. Leaves a wake of blood.
Despite the rare nature of the components to make it, some may be surprised to find this kit at any common merchant. Though, it can be argued that its design was created from clever use of dyes as opposed to real tiger fur. Regardless, it is a challenge to all swordsmen within sight.
"Like a master calligrapher's brushstroke, written in blood." Those are the words that grace this beautiful sword kit. This weapon looks perfect on a warrior dressed in the white color of death and can be easily found during act one.
This sword kit is located at the Ariake Pillar of Honor inside of the Ariake Prefecture. To get to it, Jin must climb the peninsula overlooking the sibling rocks. This sword kit may have a basic design, but sometimes simplicity is what makes things great.
As stated by the description of the sword kit, this is "for warriors who celebrate the shadows." With its dark, cloudlike design, this weapon is the perfect companion for those who love to hide in darkness, stalking the Mongol invaders & cutting them down from the dark reaches of Tsushima.
This sword kit can be found during act one in the scorched field north of the First General's Field, at the Komoda Pillar of Honor. It's almost poetic that such a magnificent kit is found where death had once come over the land.
Depicting the wild greens that traditionally envelope the skin of the Oni, this sword kit is perfect to reflect the demon resting within. Some peasants in the game react at though Jin fights like a demon and this weapon kit will make that all the truer.
It is appropriate that this sword kit's description reads, "as night falls, death approaches." This kit can be found in act one as well in the Azamo region within Wakou Island at the first Azamo Pillar of Honor.
There's actually a Sly Cooper easter egg in Ghost of Tsushima. The Sly Tanuki is a part of that cosplay and acts as the tail of the thievius raccoon. Not only that, but it makes for a fine sheath to house your sword and states that it is "for the samurai who knows neither friend nor foe... only destruction."
This amazing sword kit can be found during act three, which is a little late in the game, but still worth it. It is located at the second Kin Pillar of Honor north of the Iwai Village Peninsula. Make sure to complete the getup to gain a trophy while you're at it.
This sword kit resonates with electric power, so much that the hilt looks like it has lightning streaking down it. This sword kit can be found in the third act and is located at the Sago Pillar of Honor, west of the Bitter Hills.
The skies grow dark as the falcon of the night drops from the sky to devour its prey, Jin launching himself from the rooftops to assassinate the invading Mongols below. This sword kit is designed to mimic the feather of a deadly bird who strikes its prey with fierce talons, which is why it is appropriate that its description reads:
This weapon is perfect for Jin and the description reminds us all of what he is doing. This sword kit states it is "for warriors who will sacrifice everything for their homes." Jin's message rings true through this blade, as everything he knows has been lost and he brings the fight back to the Mongols who stole it.
"Inhuman strength and venomous onslaught" are what accompany this sword kit as Jin strikes his foes down with the heart of a true warrior. The beautiful reds, blues, and yellows of this sword kit are designed in a way that anyone can appreciate.
Sentinel's Peak in the northwestern section of Iki Island is home to the Immortal Hope sword kit. This sword kit is finely crafted out of bamboo and accented with a lovely pink ribbon. There is a pillar of honor at Sentinel's Peak, but it isn't obvious.
The first thing players will probably notice is the Mongol encampment directly under where the pillar of honor is. While clearing out the camp isn't necessary to get the sword kit, it definitely helps.
The Nekoma's Fang sword kit appears to be beautifully designed to look like marble with slight cracks in it. This is the only sword kit that is located down on Saru Island in the southern section of Iki Island. Off the coast, players will be able to spot the tiny island.
It will be a little bit of a swim but there is a pillar of honor on that island that has the sword kit on it. This pillar of honor has a monkey that needs to be lured away before the sword kit can be obtained.
Like with the Immortal Hope sword kit, the Stonecutter sword kit is located around a Mongol camp. Players can either choose to clear it or they can simply go around it. The pillar of honor with the sword kit is essentially in the center of the map and tucked away in some forest areas. The sword kit here is reminiscent of Nekoma's Fang but without the cracks and more polished.
Down in the southeastern section of Iki Island, players will find a shrine called Nakajima Shrine. It is filled with plenty of parkour opportunities and can be a little tough to get through, but will get players the Mashira's Bite sword kit.
To get the Hidden Heart sword kit, players will need to progress a little way into the story. After completing the tale titled "Jin From Yarikawa," the Bokken Tournament will become available at Fune's Refuge. This challenge is a little tricky to overcome and requires some careful timing, but defeating all the challengers in the tournament will get players this sword kit.

After you've unlocked the gem slot for your sword, you can purchase the slots for each other equipment type for 1000 Mirian each. You cannot unlock the slot for your Ring until Act II when Rings become available.
The Threshing Sword is the one exception. It is a fantastic weapon, and among the best swords in the game. The explosions from the Threshing Sword will not damage you, and can help you decimate enemy captains.
Geyadrone Dihada had given Dakkon ten years for the creation of the finest sword ever made. Dakkon knew that, for the task, his craft alone wouldn't be enough and that he needed the magical power of sacrifice. At first, Dakkon spilled only his own blood in sacrifice to the forging of the sword: the blood was seared by the flames and grafted the power of Dakkon himself into the weapon. The sword, however, needed not only blood but life itself. After two years passed, the work was not going well and Dakkon knew that more needed to be done. He called to his side his young son, Daron, and as he pulled the sword from the forge he told his son to close his eyes. When the boy did so, Dakkon plunged the white-hot metal into his own son's chest. The boy's blood, soul, and energy were drawn from him and pulled into the sword. Dakkon held the sword before him and saw that this was only the beginning since the work would require many, many more lives to succeed. In the following years, Dakkon slew countless slaves, buying them from among the worst villains in Corondor. Each one fed the sword with their blood, soul, and energy, making the sword ever stronger.[4] 2b1af7f3a8
