The CanoScan 9000F is on the list of scanners supported by the VueScan scanning software. If the scanner worked OK for you before, it might be cheaper to buy a copy of VueScan than to buy a new scanner. You can try VueScan for free. It will put a watermark on scanned images until you pay for it.
You will be highly disappointed if you purchase from this company. I purchased their standard software to work with my Docketport 465 sheetfed scanner. For the first few months, it worked just fine, but then all of a sudden began putting watermarks on my scanned documents and kept pushing me to upgrade to their professional version. When I contacted their customer service, that is where the disappointment began. They said that they had to turn that feature of no watermarks off because it was only offered in the professional package. They also stated their website clearly notes that when it doesn't. Further checking into them recently reveals that they have a 1 star rating with BBB along with several complaints that are marked unanswered for years. They are just another company to add to the list that promises, lies, and then doesn't support their product.
Vuescan is another of those pieces of software that have just been such an important part of the Image Science workflow - for so many things, for so many years - it's hard to even imagine a time without it.Once learned, Vuescan allows for the precise levels of control that high quality scanning requires. It also supports just about every productivity feature you could ask for to make the (fundamentally boring!) job of scanning - scanning anything, really - faster and more effective. Add that to the fact it supports just about every scanner under the sun, on every common operating system, and it all adds up to the conclusion that Vuescan is an absolute bargain. At AUD $130 or so for the professional version described here, but only $49 for the basic version (if e.g. you just want to resurrect a scanner that the manufacturer has stopped supporting and do basic scanning) - it's just unbelievably powerful for the price, and very well supported. (You can try Vuescan for as long as you like - the free version will watermark all your images, though). 2b1af7f3a8
